Getting A Army Shine On Your Dr Martens |

| When you buy your new Dr Martens boots regardless of the
finish that you want, treat them immediately with the wonder
balm that comes with the boots. This product has been
specifically developed to protect the specific leather that
is used to make Dr Martens. Be generous with the balm and
rub in as much as can be absorbed by the boots. Wipe off any
excess. Now if you want you can spit shine your new boots to
get the army look. Achieving an army style shine on your Dr Martens requires about 90 minutes of spit polishing. Later the area that you want shined up in a thick layer of paste polish. Allow it to dry for at least 10 minutes. Take a soft, smooth cloth, that is ideally made of cotton and wrap it around your index finger. Smooth it out so that there are no lumps or bumps in it. Dip that finger quickly into some water, the cloth needs to be wet through, but not dripping. You need a smooth surface that is one layer deep, so that you can apply the right amount of pressure. Buff the polished area using small circular motions. Once you have done all of the panel, using your dampened finger cloth apply another thin layer of polish. Rub this off with small circular motions. Keep adding thin layers of polish and rubbing them off until your boots are shining like mirrors. If you want to get the most out of your Dr Martens, then it is essential that you clean and polish them on a weekly basis. They will also greatly benefit from being treated monthly with more Wonder Balm, which you can order from Dr Martens. If your boots get soaking wet be careful about how you dry them out. The temptation is to put them near a heater to speed up the drying out process. This is the worst thing that you can do. Leather needs to dry out slowly, but thoroughly. Drying leather boots with direct heat will leave them prone to cracking and hardening. A pair of Dr Martens can still be shiny and look like new after several years of daily use. The key to keeping them looking good is regularly feeding the leather and using only good quality products on them. |
